MID-CENTURY TREASURE TROVE This auction is for ONE ORANGE BEEHIVE-SHAPED TRIPOD ATOMIC TV LAMP!! COME see us and " FRIEND " us on FACEBOOK at MOD LAMP!!! Now that most of you are familiar with these lamps, let me share a bit if history with my fellow Lamp Geeks: Please see photo # 9 . There are 4 bases . Each one has slightly different shaped legs. The one on the left has the stubbiest, with flat tips on the ends of the feet. The second one has slighty smaller legs. The one on the far right has the finiest tip, and the pointiest taper. The ones on the far left are the newest ones, around late 1960's. The one on the far right is the oldest , around late 1950's . Basically the pattern is:The pointier the leg ,with smaller diameter , the older . The stubbier and less tapered , the newer it is. The oldest ones were made of Teak or Walnut , the later ones were Pine. These THree current Beehives lamps have legs that are like the second from the right. Not the oldest, but very nicely turned legs. And if someone happens to buy all three, we made sure that all three bases match! Late 1950's. The “Atomic Age" . Man on the moon. Starburst clocks. Television becoming popular across America. The first TVs had a curved glass front. The surface caused a glare from any conventional lamp.
