ORDER OF THE STAR OF ETHIOPIA Star of the Order---due to size, perhaps for the 2nd class. This Order, founded in 1884-5, recognized service to the Emperor and People of Ethiopia . The Crown Council of Ethiopia [in exile] continues to bestow this award. DESIGN Front --- An 80 mm [3 1/16 inch] wide, slightly vaulted, gilt star planchet with a central boss surrounded by a ring contained within floriated or filigree designs. Each star point has floriated/filigree designs within a border. The star is 2 mm + thick. Back--Plain slightly vaulted gilt with a thin wire pin and catch and two 'outrigger' hooks for attachment to clothing. CONDITION: Star front shows light aging & reverse has tarnish as shown in image. No maker or metal fineness marks. Although this piece's workmanship is somewhat similar to that of B. A. Sevadjian of Addis Ababa, it is not the same. The pins are of thinner material than that used by Sevadjian. Perhaps made in Ethiopia??? SHIPPING: Via US PS first class mail FREE Priority mail option at $6 cost to you.
