This photograph was purchased at an estate auction of a man I believe was a News Photographer. I purchased a large lot of World War II news photographs and on each photograph was the story that went with this photograph which is shown in the second image. This photo shows two sets of brothers, holding a reunion aboard a Coast Guard-manned assault transport at Guadalcanal, meeting Japo, the famed chicken who deserted the Japanese and came over to the American invaders in the conquest of the Marshalls. Japo found the fire too hot. She suddenly ran out from a bomb blasted island, fluttered crackling up the ramp of a landing barge and leaped into the arms of the boat crew. Since that day, Japo has been given the run of the transport and seems destined to escape the stew pot. The brothers, meeting on a gun platform, are Major Lyle J Robertson, US Army Air Forces; and Cost Guardsman M T Robertson, motor machinist's mate second class, both from Carbondale, IL; Coast Guard Lieutenant Norman F Hey dinger, and staff Sergt E R Heydinger, US Army Air Forces, both from Toledo, OH. Read the description image for more information. This photo is about 8 by 10 inches and has some curl and minor creasing, but is in generally good condition. ATTENTION CUSTOMERS IN ITALY AND TAIWAN- Unfortunately t seems to be a delay in getting packages to Italy
