Found in New England and up for sale without reserve is this beautiful and original American 19th century Miniature Ink and Wash Silhouette Portrait of a Gentleman. Upon close inspection there are many fine details - a fancy white tie and collar, hair, sideburn and fancy lapeled uniform jacket. The condition is excellent with only two very small dark spots on the surrounding paper, and a some small imperfections on the gilt liner. The silhouette was done on thick paper and placed in a beautiful period rose wood frame with a gold gilt liner and small hanging ring. The original wooden backer board has been replaced with an acid free backer board. (The original board has some writing on it and will be included with the portrait).
