AN ORIGINAL 1932 WALTER LANTZ STUDIO, BILL NOLAN PRODUCTION MODEL SHEET OF POOCH THE PUP! GREAT ART FOR YOUR DRAWING COLLECTION! If you are a fan of black & white cartoons and the art with which they were made then THIS is a GREAT piece of artwork for you! You probably already know that very little black & white animation art from the early 1930s has survived the ravages of time.Up for auction is this ORIGINAL pen & ink model sheet of Pooch the Pup by Bill Nolan. It dates from around 1932. Pooch was actually drawn as a black & white character but in the model sheet he is drawn black. I suspect that this sheet was done before production of the cartoons began and Nolan just drew him as black. It COULD also be that it was drawn by Lantz himself because it was his series while Nolan was animating Oswald, but it really LOOKS like a Nolan drawing. There’s a good chance that this is the earliest model sheet actually drawn by Nolan that survives anywhere! The image measures about 12” across and 3.5” high. The sheet is 11” x 15”.One read more
