INTERESTING HISTORICAL LAND DEED DOCUMENT FROM 1793 PHILADELPHIA. Partially printed document on fine laid paper with watermark. EXCELLENT CONDITION. Full sheet measures 16 1/2" by 13 1/2", which was folded in half and then folded in quarters. No splitting at the folds, very minor staining. Printed by JOSEPH CRUKSHANK. (Joseph Crukshank 1747 - 1836 ran a successful Publishing and Bookselling business in Philadelphia on Market Street. Well known for publishing BLACKSTONE'S COMMENTARIES in 1772 and POOR WILL'S ALMANAC in 1790.) This document is for the purchase of 400 acres of land from Joseph Clinton by Robert Morris. "KNOW ALL MEN BY THESE PRESENTS that Was application hath lately been made by me JOSEPH CLINTON to the Land Office of Pennsylvania, for a tract of land, Containing 400 hundred acres, adjoining land granted to Paul Clinton by warrant of the 10th day of February 1793 in the County of Luzerne - State of Pennsylvania." The land is being purchased "for the consideration of five shillings specie to me in hand paid by ROBERT MORRIS of the City of Phila., Esq. Hand Signed and Sealed by JOHN RICHE and JOSEPH CLINTON. The seal is a small diamond shaped piece of paper held in place by red wax. The deed is witnessed and affirmed on 22nd day of December 1795 by one of the Judges of the Court of Common Pleas for the County of Lycoming. read more
