An original hand colored stone lithograph from an incomplete volume of McKenney & Hall's 1854 three volume octavo edition of "History of the Indian Tribes of North America". The images were lithographed and hand colored by J. T. Bowen of Philadelphia. This early (second) edition had finer hand coloring than the five later editions. The print measures 10 1/4" x 6 1/4", and is in good condition, with bright original hand coloring and gum arabic highlights. It comes with its original tissue guard and several pages of text giving the biography of the Native American pictured.
