You are bidding on an original 1920s/1930s Jacobus desk lamp designed by Jacobus Johannes Pieter Oud. The lampshade is made of aluminium lacquered black on the outside and white on the inside to maximise light reflection. There is one bulb casing. The curved stem is made of a metal rod lacquered black and fitted on both ends with joints to allow for adjustments. The heavy base is made of cast iron lacquered black. The original switch is placed on the base. The lamp is in good condition and in full working order. There are age related marks and scratches on the black lacquer work. The lampshade has a 1cm chip on the side and a chip to the top of the shade. While the base presents with chips and rust spots to the underside. The silver metal used for the stem's top ball joint presents with age related blemishes . However, these do not interfere with the overall look of the piece. The lamp takes one Edison screw (screw fit) bulb. It is fitted with a UK plug. As with all vintage electrical equipment, it is advisable to have it checked by a qualified electrician.
