This is a pair of original U.S. Army issue 1942-dated cap-toed service or combat shoes (low-top boots) with leather soles and hobnails. This particular kind of shoe was sometimes issued in the European Theater of Operations (ETO) as a U.S. Army combat boot (I know this for a fact because my father, a rifleman of the 94th Infantry Division, who was wounded in action, wore exactly this type of shoe into combat in Germany in early 1945). This shoe is issued on special requisition only." This hob-riveted variety of service shoe is an extremely rare variant of the U.S. Army combat shoe of early WWII. ****** This pair is size 7D. The leather is smooth brown russet, with a cap toe. Laces are the original brown cotton laces, with plastic tips. Each shoe is stamped inside with Quartermaster information, I read more
