ORIGINAL 828th SQUADRON, 485th BOMB GROUP WORLD WAR II PHOTO - ORIGINAL PHOTO OF THE TIME - NOT A REPRO, COPY, OR SCAN QUANTITY: 1 - See the other two aerial bomb strike photos I have listed of Linz, Austria.SUBJECT: This is an original aerial photo taken by the 485th Bomb Group of a raid on Linz, Austria. They bombed Herman Goring Tank Works (25 july 1944), Benzol Plant (4 & 15 November 1944), Communications (20 January 1945), Marshalling Yards (2 March & 25 April 1945) in Linz. Photo would have been used by Captain Perry Updike, Intel Officer for the 828th Squadron, to assess damage done by their raids.UNIT: 828th Bomber Squadron, 485th Bomb Group, 15th Army Air Force, based at Venosa, Italy. The Group was formed at Fairmont AAF, Nebraska in September, 1943. Based at Venosa, Italy, the Group flew 187 combat missions from May 10, 1944 to April 25, 1945. Their B-24 Liberators bombed targets in Yugoslavia, Italy, Austria, France, Rumania, Hungary, Germany, Czechoslovakia, and Greece.
