You are looking at a nice example of these old wall clocks. Made by THE STANDARD ELECTRIC TIME COMPANY of Springfield Mass. This secondary/slave clock includes the bell that was rung at the appointed hour, possibly originally used in a school. The clock weighs in at 7 Lbs and measures 17" in diameter with a 12" face. Photographed outside make the face look pristine but, as expected, the white face has some minor smudges Mechanically it looks fine and manually clicking the hands moves them normally, the bell has not been tested but there is no reason to believe that it will not work fine. Before the computer era, the term "secondary" or "slave" referred to electrical clocks that are synchronized periodically by an electrical pulse through dedicated wiring issued by a master clock in the same building. From the late 19th to the mid 20th centuries, electrical master/slave clock systems were widely installed in public buildings and business offices, with all the clocks in the building synchronized through electric wires to a central master clock. These older styles of slave clocks require impulses from the master clock to advance. Many slave clocks of these types remain in operation, most commonly in schools. Please ask any questions before bidding.
