Original Civil War Cavalry Saber Sword, Ames M1860 marked 1864, personal marks

I bought this antique, Civil War, Ames M1860 Cavalry Saber without a scabbard from an excellent art gallery that specializes in the American West. From what I’ve read, this is a model 1860 Cavalry Saber produced in 1864. The blade is marked “ Made by / Ames Mfg Co / Chicopee / Mass .” on one side and “ US / JF / 1864 " on the other side, (see photos). The blade is 35 inches long and the overall length is 40 ¾” inches. It’s been well used, perhaps in combat. I’ve read that 1864 is the best year of manufacture for this saber, and the most highly collectable, although this certainly isn’t in great, collectable condition. There are personal markings made at some point by an owner, who scratched them into the copper handle guard: “1/6 75”, or “yg 75”, I’m not sure, and the letters, “hgncrc”. I can’t really tell. You’ll have to look at the photos, and perhaps some research would turn up more. The bar coming from the brass hilt has a “W” that’s either stamped or scratched into it where an inspector’s mark would be. It isn’t like the other personalized, scratched marks, so perhaps it’s stamped. It’s missing the leather covering and braiding on the handle, which is painted wood that’s cracked.
