Up for auction is an original Dale Nichols print titled End of The Hunt . The image measures by sight 10 and 1/2 inches high by 13 inches wide. It is matted and framed under glass to a size of 17 and 1/2 inches high by 19 and 1/2 inches wide. I have not examined the print out of the frame but it appears that the print is in excellent condition and the wooden frame which appears to be original has some scattered nicks in the wood photos( # 6,7,8 and 9) but otherwise is in excellent vintage condition for its age. I noticed a few specks of lint on the mat under the glass in the bottom left corner. The back of the picture has brown paper, some old scotch tape reinforcing the brown paper backing and the original framer's information photos #10 and # 11. I did some research on the internet and found a reference to this picture framer in an April 1938 Brooklyn newspaper. Also, the phone number begins with the word TRIangle and my research revealed that this was used by AT&T in Brooklyn Heights from the 1930's- 1950's. I am unable to date the print and this is the only information I have to assign a wide range date to the print. I know that Dale Nichols painted the original oil painting "End of The Hunt" in 1934 and the Metropolitan Museum of Art in NYC bought it in 1941. Other than that I have no other information. I am certain that there read more
