The Hurst Corporation sponsored a number of exhibition racers during the 60’s and none of them were more famous than the "Hemi Under Glass” wheel-stander. Built and driven by Bob Riggle, this was a Plymouth Barracuda like none other. The 1500 horsepower 426 Hemi engine was mounted in the rear of the car to create the feather light front end and rear weight distribution needed to do endless “wheelies” down the strip. The 727 Torque flight transmission was run into a marine Casale V drive, then back to the reversed rear end which had been flipped over so the ring and pinion gears ran forward. A Plexiglas panel was mounted into the firewall below the dash, allowing Bob to see the track ahead while riding an eight-foot wheel-stand! Highway 61 Collectibles' "Hemi Under Glass" features a lift-off hood and rear window, opening doors and trunk, fully wired and plumbed 426 Hemi engine, metal tube roll cage, and steerable front end. These are always SOLD OUT everyw! NOTICE: The photo below of the car doing one of its famous ¼ mile wheelies read more
