ATTRIBUTED TO CORNELIUS VARLEY (1781-1875) TITLE: 'Major Oak, Birklands' INSCRIBED with title and 'Varley' in pencil on the original backboard MEDIUM: Pencil and watercolour heightened with Chinese white IMAGE SIZE: 10 x 12 inches (20.5 x 30.5cm) OVERALL SIZE INCLUDING FRAME: 18 x 20.5 inches (46 x77.5cm) CONDITION: In original untouched condition with some light staining and foxing but otherwise in good condition with no tears or creases and not faded Recently mounted and reframed Any questions please ask NO RESERVE The subject of this picture is thought to be around 800 years old and is located in Sherwood Forest, Nottingham. Robin Hood is reputed to have hidden in its hollow trunk
