This is a lot of 38 original Korean War era snapshot photos taken by a USA soldier. The photos are divided into three sets organized by size of the photos. The first set of five photos has inscriptions on them indicating they were taken on the way to Korea aboard the USS Aiken Victory dated July 1951. These photos all measure about 2 1/8” x 2 1/8”. One of the photos has an inscription that reads “Bud – killed Korea – 40 th Inf. Div. Korea”. The second set is three slightly larger photos measuring about 2 3/8” x 2 3/8” which appear to have been taken in Korea . These photos don’t have any inscriptions but one photo shows a soldier with his arm around a Korean woman and another shows a group of African American soldiers with white soldiers. The third set of 30 slightly larger photos measuring about 2 ¾” x 2 ¾” document the first part of his journey home from Pusan , South Korea to Sasebo in Occupied Japan in March 1953 after 22 months service in Korea . The photos are dated March 1953 and some have inscriptions on them including this colorful one: Pusan Korea Mar 53 – Going Home After 22 mo. In this stinking hell hole. I’ve dreamed of this day.
