This no reserve auction is for an original Lionel 104 Center Span Bridge in its original box. This piece was originally produced by Lionel between 1920 - 1931 for use with Standard Gauge track. This 14" by 6 1/2" by 6 1/2" high bridge has a gunmetal gray roadbed and matches up with the type B description on page 115 in Greenberg's Guide to Lionel Trains, 1901 - 1942, Volume III, Accessories by Peter H. Riddle, Ph. D, which dates this particular piece to later in the production cycle. This piece is pristine with no evidence that it ever spent time on a layout. The original pea green paint shows no signs of handling. The original cream colored pillars at the corners show only some minor rubbing at high spots. The original round wooden finials show no signs of wear. There is a small area of paint loss on one end beneath the track which may have been caused by rubbing against the box. There is almost none of the typical paint loss at the high points or corners or edges which remain unscathed. The box retains a beautiful uncut label on the end opposite from the one that was opened. The box is square and strong and shows modest shelf wear for an 80 year old relic. One side shows some water drop type stains. There is no writing or tape repair to this box. All end flaps and interior flaps are present and firmly attached. Guaranteed to be read more
