This map is titled on the lower left hand portion: "Sketch of the Route pursued by the expedition to the Red River of the North in the Summer of 1849. Jno. Pope, Capt. T.E.". T is a large table of distances labeled on the upper right hand portion of the map. The table shows the miles it is from Sauk Rapids to various locations on the map such as Chippewa River, Little Salt River and the Mouth of the Pembina River. The colors of the map are bright and bold shades of Black. The detail on the map is extremely clear. The condition of the map is excellent for its age! T are some pieces of non-acid conservation-preservation tape on the back of the map. This is a common form of preservation for maps of this age to help protect and preserve them. T is no writing on the back of the map. The map's paper is a nice thin-crisp grade, extremely delicate with age. The measurements of the map are: 19" by 23".
