Single original full size British War medal impressed 2.LIEUT. C.V. ASHE. Looks like this guy had a fairly interesting career: Born 9 August 1896, Ireland. Resided Palace View, Luam, County Galway. Attested into the Cadet Company of the 7th Battalion Leinster Regiment (service number 3490) and was wounded in action with this battalion on the Somme, gun shot wounds left thigh and both feet 11th July 1916. Commissioned into the South Wales Borderers and was wounded in action once again (14/10/18) serving with the 10th Battalion (V.C. Battalion). Military Cross Gazetted 2nd December, 1918 (page 14227) T./2nd. Lt. Charles Victor Ashe, S.W.B., attd. 10th Bn. For conspicuous gallantry and ability in leading his platoon of 20 men with great determination against 100 of the enemy. He completely disorganised a hostile out-flanking movement, taking 60 prisoners and dispersing the remainder. Later, when his company commander had been killed, he took charge of the company and set a fine example to his men.
