Guaranteed ProvenanceLast One......D on't Miss This One...!!!The 4925th Test Group (Atomic), famously known as the "Megaton Blasters", was stationed at Kirtland AFB near Albuquerque, New Mexico and was responsible for the engineering of, construction and testing of nuclear weapons delivery systems as well as executing some actual aerial nuclear weapons delivery utilizing those systems for USAF aircraft from the late 1940s through 1961 when the unit was inactivated and its responsibilities transferred to other units. Their stable of aircraft included the B-29, B-50D, B-45, the B-36H and then on into the Jet Age, a couple of B-52s, B-47s as well as numerous different jet fighter and fighter-bomber types, including a number of Navy types, that were flown by what the the Air Force called the best pilots in the world. The 4925th dropped "live" weapons in tests at the Nevada Test Site as well as many of the tests in the Pacific all throughout the 1950s which was the 4925th's "heyday" so-to-speak.This rare piece is from the estate of a former member of the 4925th who also flew B-24s in WWII with the 458th BG.
