This auction is for an original Model 1917 U.S. Cavalry Leather Scabbard for the Krag Carbine. The scabbard is in very good condition and complete with straps and snap hooks to attach to the McClellan saddle. The leather body of the scabbard still holds it's original form and remains pliable with some areas of very light surface cracking but no flaking. All the stitching is complete and tight and the water drain grommet is firmly attached to the scabbard. The leather straps show cracking and wear in areas that are constantly being flex, such as where the snap hooks are located, but the straps are not weak and are very solid and remain flexible. The body of the scabbard is stamped "L.F.Co./1918" with the inspector's markings stamped as "P.T." below the date. This is a solid example and an important addition to any period McClellan saddle display. Please review the pictures and email me with any questions.
