Original mixed media oil painting on board by artist Shelley Jamaine. Original textured oil painting on 6 mm board by artist Shelley Jamaine.This painting is from the 'Neon Nature' series I am painted and it is concerned with natural patterns and textures with bright colours and brightly coloured glitter. The pink paint in this painting is paint I make myself and it is UV paint so it will glow up fluorescent pink under UV light. This piece also has multicoloured fine glitter that reflects the light. This painting is from a series of medium sized works that I made in 2013 on 6 mm board as I wanted a firmer surface to work on to build up thicker textures and layers of paint and textiles materials. This piece was inspired by natural textures such as rough rock surfaces. I like to use bright colours and bold shapes as found in nature combined with more industrial patterns and textures. I enjoy working with different abstracted patterns as they create different movements when they are combined within a painting and I like to experiment with UV paints to give different views to each painting. Dimensions and Hanging Suggestions... The dimensions of this piece are 10 cm x 14 cm and the board is 6 mm deep. The sides of this painting are painted black and this painting is also signed on the back. This painting is on 6 mm board, so it could be framed in a frame of your choice or you could also use more modern sticky fixers from DIY stores now for pictures of this size and weight. This would make a nice housewarming present for someone in a new house who needs a bit of colour on the walls and this painting would suit a smaller room or an area of wall such as in a hallway or kitchen. The vivid pattern, bright colours and detailed areas in this painting would appeal to children so this could be hung in a play room. This painting would be best hung somewhere where the detail and texture can be seen close up such as near a desk or sitting area. A bit about me... Originally from West Yorkshire, I have exhibited nationally and have sold my art work internationally and I work from my studio in Essex where I spend the majority of my time painting and planning my next works. Along with producing one off original pieces of various different sized and mediums, I have also done some large mural commissions. I studied Painting and Drawing at Huddersfield University, graduated in 2006 with a BA Hons in Fine Art Painting and Drawing, and I have worked as a professional artist ever since. I also studied textiles at Bradford College during my art foundation course and I feel this now feeds back into my work when I make my textile mixed media art works. I am inspired by decaying nature, bright colours and all things to do with the gothic subculture. I like to combine my favourite inspirations in an overall new gothic expressionistic art style so much of my work has gothic symbolism or motifs such as skulls and skeletal shapes with bright contrasting colours. I am particularly interested in natural forms and textures and the feelings they can evoke when used in art. I like to imitate or embody these within my art works within imaginary forest landscapes that I create. I also make finely detailed pure abstract paintings that are inspired by human anatomy and abstract expressionism.
