Summertime is here, which means it is time to hit the road again - at least long enough to get to your favorite drive-in for some old-fashioned root beer! Titled Route 66: The Carhop , this colorful animation-style painting was created by artist/cartoonist Margaret Carspecken as the basis for the June 2014 image in Marsha's Route 66 Road Trip calendar. It shows our road warrior foxes ready to enjoy a much anticipated treat in their '56 Thunderbird, and a young carhop who employs more enthusiasm than technique with her service. With an approximate image size of 10 x 14 inches, this happy Summer scene was painted with watercolor, gouache, and colored pencil on a sheet of 11 x 15-inch 140-lb. hot press watercolor paper. A slightly modified version of the painting was used in the 2014 calendar. This one-of-a- kind original artwork is being offered online for the first time as part of an ongoing fund-raising campaign. Whether you are a fan of hot cars and drive-ins, are a collector of friendly furry cartoon art, or simply enjoy the feeling of a romantic Summertime evening spent with your Special Someone, this highly collectible original artwork will add color and a joyful dose of good cheer to any collection.
