Original Swiss Poster Advertising Oriental Carpets Sold at JELMOLI, ZurichJelmoli was founded in 1833 in Zurich by Johann Peter Jelmoli-Ciolina. It specialized in mail order sales in the garment sector beginning in 1897 in a way similar to Sears & Roebuck in the USA, albeit on a much lower scale. Today its mail order activity represents a large sector of its activities although it operates several department stores throughout Switzerland. This ad is for oriental carpets and was done for its Zurich department stores.
