Early 1930's highly desirable and 100% athuentic american made industrial adjustable height factory stool designed and patented by clement uhl for the toledo metal furniture co., toledo, oh. the "uhl art steel" stool has a wood saddle type swivel seat. the "elco health chair" or draftsman stool features a distinctive steel base containing four stretchers of concave metal straps connected to the legs and joined by a circular strip in the center or "spider." the heel ring or footrest consists of a heavy gauge solid steel rod affixed to each of the four flared legs using a series of protruding bent steel brackets. In great functional condition, but the seat has some adhesive on it that needs to be removed and some light water staining. I checked out how much it would be to restore this piece and I was given a quote of about $60.00 There is a small, dark metal plate attached to the bottom of the back of the back rest. It's a little bent on the bottom corners, and It's securely attached with two tiny nails.
