ORIGINAL USS NEWARK SAMPSON NAMED MEDAL Spanish American War United States Navy Sampson medal named to a sailor aboard the USS Newark. This medal was issued to John Mahoney S.M.M. and is engraved on the rim of the medal. The date Aug. 12 is on the back of the bar pin and again on the front of the medal. This is the day an armistice was signed in Washington by which Spain freed Cuba and ceded to the US Puerto Rico and Guam. This is a 100 % original medal. It comes with what looks like the original box (minus linning) and what I thnk is a ribbon holder pin plus the Newark and a France pin. This tin type was found in the box (Mahoney or relative?). US and Canada Sales only. Money order or PayPal only. $5 mailing plus appropriate insurance.
