An excellent, original, Victorian albumen, Carte de Visite photograph of a monkey. The image shows the monkey being held on the arm of a man. The unusual image is a little faded, a bit soft, with flat contrast and detail. It has some slight dirt on the photo. It is mounted on contemporary card, which is a little dirty. The image is undated, but is annotated in ink on the reverse 'In support of the Darwinian Theory', which probably dates it around 1870. The photographer was T K Wardle of Grimsby Animal photos of this date are extremely scarce and highly collectable. THERE IS NO RESERVE Overall Size of mount approx 2.5x4ins (5.5x9cms) Please ask if you need more information on this image.
