This is an original oil painting depicting battle of the Civil War-it is signed by the artist and I believe it says "S.E. King" -the letters are a little hard to distinguish-along with the signature it is dated "1961". In researching this painting we found it was most likely done in preparation for the 100th Anniversary of the Civil War. The painting was originally sold by the Armistad out of Montgomery, Alabama which was the first Confederate Capital. On the back, in pencil, it says "gift by Judge James". We purchased this from a Dallas estate sale of a prominent family. They had purchased it locally from Texas Art Gallery. We could not find out anything on the artist but that could be because we are interpreting the signature wrong-I can tell you that the painting is done very well and is in good shape. It measures, including the frame, 42 1/2" H X 30" W Please ask any questions before bidding. Please contact us for International shipping rates. We only accept returns if item is not as described.
