Here's a very nice WW1 leather sling called the Model of 1907 US Springfield because that is when this two piece style was formerly adopted by the US Ordnance Department. It has two claw brass hooks on two individual pieces of leather strapping connected by a elliptical brass loop attached to the rear strap. The claw hooks have smooth rivets, different from the earlier Krag and Trapdoor sling , which I am also selling in another auction. This style sling was the standard for use with the Model 1903 Springfield; the P-1917 Enfield Winchester, Remington and Eddystone as well as the M1 Garand and the Model 1903A3 Springfield, Remington, and Smith Corona Rifles. Fitted in a slightly different fashion it was also used on the Winchester 1897 and 1912 Trench Shotguns as the sling swivels were further apart. Anyone that owns one of these great weapons would dress it up with a real sling while they are still available. This one is in very serviceable condition. Guaranteed original and includes the 2 sewn leather sling keepers.
