For your consideration is an original WW II AAF A-2 Flight Jacket used during the Korean War by a line mechanic, Richard V. Sheldon, while assigned to the 523rd Fighter-Escort Squadron, 27th Fighter-Escort Wing . This A-2 is excellent overall and with leather that remains supple and with no rips or tears. The nomenclature label is intact and shows J.A. Dubow Mfg. Co., Chicago, ILL as the manufacturer. Size is 38 and another size label, 38, is located under the flap of the right pocket. Waistband and cuffs are originals and show several moth holes and a slight tear on right sleeve. Jacket has a Talon zipper in good, working condition. All snaps and clasps are present and the liner is in excellent condition with very little wear noted. The lether hanger is missing and the neck area does show some minor wear. Sheldon's name is hand written in the neck area and appears next to an official stamp. The name Evans is crossed out below. Upper left chest has an ountstanding theater-made 523rd F-E Sqdn patch, embroidered on wool. Patch measures 5" wide and is in very good condition with no flaws. In addition to the jacket are several photos of F-82s in Texas, an F-84 assembly in the Far East and several items of ephemera to include his Equator Crossing Card dated 23 Nov 1950 while aboard the USS Bataan which brought the second shipment of 2 read more
