Here we have an amazing, original Wartime photo, taken by combat photographer Byrd F. Ferneyhough. This photo comes from a HUGE lot of original Wartime photos taken on Iwo Jima by 2 different combat photographers. This original photo shows both the Commander of the 5th MARDIV, Major General Keller E. Rockey (on left) and the Assistant Division Commander, Brigadier General Leo D. Hermle (on right with 5th MARDIV UNIS markings on his HBTs). General Rockey's HBT cap also has the 5th MARDIV UNIS designation of 9111.To my knowledge, this is an unpublished photo!Photo in good condition, except for some damage to finsh where it looks like a piece of tape was removed. A little foxing to one corner edge as well.Overall, the photo has an off-white, very pale yellow tone to it, from age, as well as a permanent curve, even after being held flat in a plastic sleeve.Photo measures 5" x 4".Awesome and rare photographic piece of WWII USMC history.
