Wilfred Taylor and J. Simms Wilson. This 64 page softcover book measures approx 9" x 6". It is the 1950 First Edition published by Cooke, Troughton and Simms, Ltd, London. This copy signed by EW Taylor - see scan "The following notes relating to the ancestry of the firm Cooke, Troughton and Simms, Ltd have been collected together over a long period and form a continuous story covering at least two and a quarter centuries, this coinciding with the reigns of at least ten British sovereigns." So begins the Foreword of this interesting book. Mainly concerned with descriptions of orreries (essentially model planetariums) this book also covers other scientific instrument makers and manufacturers of clocks down to 1922. The sections are: John Worgan John Rowley Thomas Wright Ben Cole Edward Troughton William Simms The Cooke Connection B&W photos and illustrations throughout the book. Book in very good condition with a little wear to the oversized covers. No other inscription.
