Absolutely no doubt these are gorgeous peice from LIMOGES, France. This plate, which is very much floral in form having 10 large scallops on the rim with just the most subtle lines rising from the face of the plate to the rim to suggest those lines on the petals of a flower. The plate measures approximately 7 3 / 8 " in diameter and rises 1 1 / 8 " at the rim in rest position. The colour as can be seen is a stunning deep deep deep royal blue and the gilded detail is superb. The family scene has been repeated on this piece with the father leaning back to look over the mother's shoulder at the book she is holding (one can only assume an art or sketch book). He has a violin in his hands, a short break perhaps from serenading. A daughter is leaning on her mothers side admiring the book as well. Two sons we can assume are to the left, 1 with flute and the other I believe to be holding a mandolin. All this is transpiring in a formal garden, complete with large urns, shrubbery, trees etc. The sides have been extensively gilded as well in floral sprays. Please enlarge the photographs to appreciate this lovely detailed work. In excellent condition nothing we can see to fault. This would make an excellent gift to any plate collector.
