This is a very nice British Sheffield P. Rossel Cabinet Maker's Pad Saw in excellent condition! The Pad Saw handle is 9 inches long and the blade is 7 inches long. It has a wonderful boxwood handle with super age patina and just light signs of use. The saw blade is in very nice condition for it's age, and the saw teeth are fully sharpened and set for use from what I can tell. The heavy brass ferrule and two set screws are in perfect condition. It is made the same style as the Mourson Brothers and James Howarth Sheffield saws of late 1800s vintage. It was in a private tool display for over 75 years, which would explain it's great condition. A very nice find you don't see very often that came from the private collection of a retired wheelwright in Williamsburgh, VA. Book Value range is $25 - $75 on an original Sheffield Pad Saw in nice condition, and this one cleary grades at Excellent+ condition in the upper value range. No Reserve because I got it at a fair price and want it to go to a true collector who will appreciate it, or a real cabinetmaker or woodworker who will put it to good working use. 's your chance to add a nice antique tool to your woodshop or collection at a fair price and make my wife happy I'm selling off my collection!
