PACIFIC COAST SHAY - Strong Man of the Woods - by Dan Ranger, Jr. 9" x 11 1/4" - 112 page hard cover 1st Print 1964. During the 1920's the popularity of the Shay locomotive had no fewer than 500 of these machines in use on the West Coast. The PACIFIC COAST type was first introduced in 1927 as a last ditch effort to prolong the use of the Shay. This is the historic look at the use of the Shay on West Coast logging operations. Nice history, photos and more. Book in fine condition. Dust jacket has some wear.
