For your consideration today is this vintage 1940's Pacific Sound mechanical field phonograph that is still in fine working condition! We do ask that you now take a few extra minutes of your time to review the following information, in order to help you, the buyer, make a sure and confident bid!! NOTE: We have just been on a huge buying spree w we came across many different dolls, action figures, early 1900's antiques, advertising pieces and tin toys ranging from the 1910's to the 1980's with a number still being sealed in their original boxes, so be sure to check out our auctions in the coming weeks as they will all be listed on eBay!! What we are offering today is this neat World War II U.S. Army military Portelec model 9C mechanical field phonograph that are not often seen these days. This item is still in fine working order and is also in excellent overall condition with some parts being in great shape! We are also including a vintage mint in the package Majestic Dura-Jewel needle to help play that old time record you might have! The item is still holding the original label on the inside of the top lid, it is called a Mechanical Field Phonograph then has another name of Portelec in script printing, it has the instructions on how to play and wind the item up, along with keeping the piece in nice working order. It is marked with a serial No. of 83660 and is a Model No. 9C, and was made by the Pacific Sound Equipment Company of Hollywood, California. The outside still shows lightly the US stamped letters in the Army green paint, as well as being stamped US on the inside of the lid. The motor on this piece is in very good condition as it winds up very well, it then holds the wind fine with the brake, the item runs very smoothly and runs along just fine, and t are no bad threads in the windup slot as the cranks threads in nicely. The crank is very solid with just some spots of surface rust which is minimal, the handle is also solid, thr bracket for holding the crank is nice, the slow/fast lever is fine, the brake lever is in fine shape and works great, the reproducer head is in great shape as well and reproduces sound very nicely, the front shows beautiful, original paint that is not chipped at all, and the slot and connections for the needle are in great shape. The set screw to hold the needle is fine, the rubber gasket that connects the reproducer to the tone arm is in fine shape with no cracks, the spring for the head is fine, t is a spot of paint missing on the back of the head, and the tone arm and base bracket are in fine shape with just some scattered paint dings. The tray for the needle when on the head is good with some paint wear, the bracket to hold the head when resting is nice, the storage bin for the extra needles is in fine shape and has a spring clip to help keep it closed, and that area is still holding the original inspection label which has the Company name on it along with some numbers for the tempo, finish and final inspection number. Very nice piece to have with the phonograph!! The main floor of the record player is very solid and clean with hardly any wear at all, the green cloth covered metal screen in the back for the sound to come from is in great shape and very clean, the hinge and bracket are in fine shape, the inside of the lid is very clean with only one inside end panel that has some light bubbling of the veneering, but nothing is broken or cracked at all. The latches are both very nice and work fine, the leather handle is in fine shape as well, the case itself is in very nice shape overall with the item being very solid and true with no structure problems. T is one splitting of the veneer on the top lid which can be seen in the photo, it appears to be surface only as the wood underneath is very solid yet, the metal corners and sides are all in very good shape, t is also some soft bubbling of the veneer on the very back sides that are not very bad but t, then the rest of the case is pretty good with a number of paint dings, spatter spots and wear areas, with m...
