Pair Aesthetic Brown Transferware Plates âÂeÂ" Birds 1880s Purchased in England, these plate are not marked, however were undoubtedly manufactured by one of the Staffordshire Potteries in England and date to the 1880s. Each plate features brown transfer images of large ivy vines and a pair of small birds in flight on the rims. The transfers have been tinted with loden green, mulberry, pale blue and yellow glazes. With crazing consistent with pieces of this age and very minor wear to the applied glaze, they measure approximately 6Ã,1⁄2âÂe in diameter and both are in overall excellent condition with no chips, cracks or repairs.
