Up for auction is a pair of brass "Spanish Conquistador" style stirrups. This particular pair is made of solid brass. They are relatively plain except for the cool lion's head stamped into the top side of each stirrup "strap" with the rest of the "strap" being the lion's mane. They are not stamped or marked by a maker. The shape of the stirrups prevents the rider getting their foot trapped through the stirrup, and gives some protection while riding horse from undergrowth (& weapons). There are two circular holes in the base of each, which would allow water to drain out. These were purchased in the mid 1930s by a lady somewhere in South America - who traveled there on vacation. That's all I know about them. I think they are probably from the mid-1800s.Dimensions are 11 " long x 4 " wide x 4-1/2" tall. They are in decent shape, but not perfect. There are dents and dings etc so please look at the pictures. They kinda' look like they were actually used but I have no idea whether that is true or not. A very nice collectible decorative! All auctions are final and "AS IS". If you don't like how it looks, please don't bid on it. Shipping and handling is a flat $15.00 in the US. I do ship internationally, but you have to email me and ask me what the cost is to your country.
