PAIR 0F HAND-COLOURED FASHION PRINTS FROM THE 19TH CENTURY. These prints have recently been looked at by a local auctioneer and I have listed below his comments. I am not an expert and cannot confirm or supply proof of this so please buy as seen. The auctioneer stated that these are a pair of hand-coloured fashion prints from the 19th Century. He said people used to remove the designs from the fashion books, colour them by hand and then frame them to put on the wall. These prints do have some 'foxing' and show signs of age. He does believe them to be of the dates listed. The print with the green and blue dresses is dated 1833 and the print with the white and yellow dresses is dated 1836. The approx. overall size of each print including the frame is 32cm x 28cm. The size of the actual print is approx. is 21.5cm x 18cm. This pair of prints have cream mounts. I have a similar pair of prints for sale with raspberry coloured mounts. A really interesting lot, especially if you are into fashion.
