Pair of Chippendale cherry side chairs each featuring serpentine pierced crestrail above conforming ladder backrest and flaring slip seat raised on squared legs. These chairs retain their original pine slip seat frames marked VIII and VII and original linen underlining. They bear original quarter round corner block and through tenon construction, one chair was exhibited as #110 in the Wadsworth Atheneums Great River Exhibition and was attributed to Eliphalet Chapin, East Windsor, Connecticut, circa 1785, Grant Family Provenance, East Windsor, Connecticut, to the present owner.
