For sale a pair (2) of CInemeccanica Mg drivers in 6 ohms with serial number : 55 81 and 55 83 (I guess these drivers were made in 1955) sharing same date code "11 Dic 1968" of service (when the diaphragms were changed to new ones? See the date codes on the diaphragms!) with a pair (2) of matching Cinemeccanica 8 cell horns. And yes these Cinemeccanica Mg drivers and 8 cell horns are back again for sale because of a non paying bidder and time waster. I will cancel all bids of low profile bidders. General condition is Very Good . You can see small chips of painting going away on each Mg driver but this is mainly situated on the bottom of each drivers. There is very little superficial rust on one of the inside throat of a driver. The diaphragms are perfect and measure respectively 6.1 ohm and 6.3 ohms. Have a look at the photos below to see exactly what you are bidding for. The horns have no bumps on them, the original painting is still there under the dust and only some little bits of painting are going away on the foot but this is normal wear through time. Please be careful with the thread to fix the drivers : they are delicate parts. I guarantee that they are in working order and I will take no responsibility if you damage them. (Same problem goes with Vitavox S2, S3, GP1, Westrex, Philips etc, etc...) This combination of matched pair of drivers and matcher pair of horns are in perfect working order and guaranteed to work but are sold as is due to age. I have been listening to them for more than a year now and they are astonishing performers. They give to the music a clarity and a definition that I cannot pretend to have with my Vitavox S2 units (I'm selling some 8 cell Vitavox horns too...). The magnets of the drivers seems to be more powerful than my Vitavox S2 and they also sound louder. The 8 cell horns seems to be very much inspired from original Western Electric multicell horns or Altec 808-H. I have been using them in a two way system with Voice of the Theater + Altec 416-8B and a second order butterworth 800Hz crossover. The sound coming out of this set up was exceptionnal. The piano had a texture I never had before and of course voices were outstanding. If I did not had to sell these Cinemeccanica drivers and horns I would have tried a first order crosssover... I do not have to tell you that it is a very rare combination of vintage horns and drivers. They were the best Italian sound devices ever made in these years and maybe the best from Europe? I have already packed the horns and the drivers in a wooden crate with lots of protections. They are ready to be dispatched as soon as I have received payment. I recommend that you use your own courrier to come and fetch these horns and drivers. Otherwise I will use a courrier to ship these items. I will not sell without insurance for shipping, nor will I declare lower value for customs.
