Pair GERMAN ART DECO SPRITZDEKOR COCKTAIL TRAYS 1930s Despatch times : I am a pensioner with limited mobility and arthritis, and can only get to a Post Office about once a week; ebay only offer me the choice of stating 5 or 10 days for despatch times, and I cannot guarantee 5 days... but please understand I will do my best to despatch your parcel as soon as I can... thanks for your patience (and if you require it urgently, please make a special request! A lovely duo of two art deco era wooden cocktail trays, made by Rufra of Wasungen in Germany, probably in the 1930s The trays have unvarnished plain wooden frames, and are small and rectangular - designed as little bar trays for serving cocktails The jazzy geometric design is the same on both trays but in slightly different shades, and involves stylised florals and leaves with colour blocks of blue and yellow T he pattern has been applied with an underglass spray-painting or airbrushed technique known in Germany as spritzdekor - spritzdekor was a very popular form of decoration in Germany in the early years of the 20th century, and pieces from that period are now becoming very collectable The trays are unmarked, but every marked tray of this kind I have seen has had the Rufra, Wasungen stamp The trays are in very good condition with no damage - the smaller tray has some minor speckling of the underglass paint, and the larger one has some cracking of the paint from drying out - neither is serious and both display beautifully. (There are 2 woodworm holes in the smaller tray, which I have treated with woodworm killer!) The larger tray measures 26 cm/10.25" by 16 cm/6.25", and the smaller one is 27.5 cm/11" by 11 cm/4.5" The combined weight is around 612 gms, and I estimate the final packaged weight will be around 1000 gms Please ask any questions, and good luck with the bidding!
