This pair of Art Nouveau, silverplate candelabra are truly majestic. They were made by the firm of Bernard Rice's Sons at the inception of their Apollo division which was introduced in 1902. The candelabra are large, are made in two parts and are covered in ornament. The design of the bases, with their twirling swirls and shell-like scrolls, appear to be in motion. The bulbous stems are reeded and very organic. The candle cups and bobeches are densely covered with flowing and intertwined foliage and flowers. The ornament doesn't quit. They have survived with no loss of silverplate or dents. T have been three solder repairs, 1 arm at the cluster, under 1, arm end, bobeche and under the candle cup of one of the bases. I found these as I was polishing and they are not ordinarily visible and do not effect the integrity or appearance of the candelabra and are nothing to worry about. They stand 18" tall with the tops in place, the bases alone are 13" tall. They are 18" wide across the bobeches. The base has a diameter of 6 1/2". They are marked, "Apollo" above "Bernard Rices Sons Inc" and the model number 8350. These candelabra will delight and impress and will be the star of any table setting.
