Expertly crafted and wonderfully whimsical, this pair of bench / stool bases is in great condition. Viewed from the side they give the impression of little owls, and the fretwork is "feathered" to enhance this aesthetic. Likely from the Art Deco period, American, circa 1930-40s, theses bases stand 14.5" H each, and are 9.5"D x 20.5"L. There is evidence that they might have both once been gilt, and some of the bright red and green paint is still visible. They would be perfect flanking a fireplace, at the end of a bed or under a couple of windows. We are happy to quote having custom seats made for both of them, as well as restoring them to full glory.
