Very nice pair of FRENCH Spelter figures dating from around 1890. They stand on what looks like Mahogany bun shaped supports with a gilt acanthus band between the base and the figure. They are both clearly signed C.H.LEVY a well known French sculpture. The female is standing next to an oak stump showing the leaves, and has a basket of fruit at her feet, a scythe and is holding what looks like a sprig of oak. There is a small split at the base of the figure just where it joins the gilt ring. The male figure is also next to an oak stump and is holding a long handled sickle in 1 hand and what looks like a gourd in the other. Both are wearing Toga style clothes. They really are nice figures and would certainly make a statement in any room placed as a pair or as a single centre piece. If you require any further info please ask.
