Palisades Amusement Park - Palisades New Jersey Scooter Ride Post Card Vintage linen post card of the Scooter Ride at Palisades Amusement Park in Palisades, New Jersey, which opened as The Park on the Palisades in 1898 as a Trolley Park. In 1908, new owners renamed it Palisades Amusement Park and built it into one of the most popular amusement parks in the country. Concerns by local officials about traffic, noise and litter led to The Palisades' demise and park operators were eventually forced to sell the land to luxury apartment developers and the park closed on Sept. 12, 1971. The rides were sold to other amusement parks and the buildings were razed soon tafter. The unused post card is in excellent condition with a slight corner bump in the lower left. The card was published by Tichenor Brothers, Inc. - New York City and it measures approximately 5-1/2 inches wide by 3-1/2 inches tall. Buyer to pay $2.00 shipping and secure packaging.
