Papier Mache Folk Art PARTRIDGE Sermel Tonala Mexico This is a lovely vintage painted partridge bird hand-crafted by a skilled artisan, employed by the well-known Sermel family from Tonala, Jalisco Mexico. The bird is made of light-weight papier mache and has a lacquer finish. It is hand-painted with colorful oranges, reds, yellows, greens & black on all sides and is signed on the bottom, "Sermel Tonala Jal Mex." This piece came from the estate of an avid world traveler who purchased many interesting items on her trips through the years and this beautiful bird was one of them. The partridge measures 8" from tail to beak, 4 1/4" at its widest and 5" high. I've included photos WITH flash to show the detail & WITHOUT flash to sure the truer colors of this bird.
