This highly collectable Parabelle paperweight was purchased from paperweight specialist L. H. Selman Ltd. (Santa Cruz, CA) on 3/8/91. It is from the 1991 Parabelle Collection, and is number 51 of a limited edition of 75 designed and created by Doris and Gary Scrutton in the Sellwood district of Portland, OR, completely from raw materials. The item number is LE 75 (PG65). The paperweight, a millefiori nosegay of four pansy canes and five green leaves on upset muslin with an outer ring of florets, has Scrutton’s special signature cane that reads “PB1991.” He ceased signing paperweights in this manner in 1995, and from that point on only did etched signatures on the outside of the glass. Parabelle ceased production in 1998. This stunning artistic masterpiece comes with its original Parabelle sticker, as well as the original receipt, catalogue description/picture (cut out from the catalogue), and Certificate of Authenticity. The condition of this paperweight is excellent--like new. There are no scratches or marks that I can see, though I am not a collector, so please forgive my lack of knowledge about quality. I believe that this would be an excellent choice for serious collectors. My grandfather was a member of the Paperweight Collectors Association, and he spent decades researching, purchasing, and preserving only the finest paperweights. read more
