Parabolic Dish Microphone for Bird & Wildlife WatchingThis is a nicely made parabolic microphone............. The dish is about 22" in diameter and 6" deep and made of clear, UV resistant, shatterproof Polyethylene plastic. The dish has good clarity and may have very slight irregularities due to thermoforming process. The reflective surface is quite smooth and it performs very well. The dish has the shape of a perfect parabola with a focal length of 4". It is a quality dish that is built to last. The Microphone is an active condenser mic that operates on a 9V battery (included), which is only active when plugged in. The mic draws a very tiny current which makes the battery last for weeks and weeks even when left on. The mic is designed for use with a variety of small recording or audio amplifying devices that accept input from an ordinary microphone. Devices include cassette tape recorders, MP3 recorders, and laptop computers. The mic cable has a male 1/8" phone connector which plugs into the battery box. Output from the battery box is a female 1/8"(3mm) phone plug which is for connecting your recorder/amplifier. The microphone is fixed to a threaded shaft which protrudes out the back of the parabola.
