This is an unmarked (with the exception of 2 hatch marks on the bottom of the cup) Gilt tea cup and saucer. I originally thought it was Old Paris Porcelain. But when I noticed that there was a line of text under the rim that read "Der geschnitten finger" I figured it must be german. I belive the translation is "the cut finger" as in the painting below of the child being tended to by the women of the house. A folksy type of peasant scene. the only damage I can see on this piece is some wear to the gilding. Apart from the scene painted on the cup there are some nice gothic revival details, arches and trefoils. The quality of this piece is very high, so I'm guessing at Dresden or KPM. please feel free to contact me with any questions you may have. The Gothic Revival style so typical of Mid Victorian Medieval influenced pieces was made popular by designers like Horace Walpole, A.J. Davis, A.J. Downing, and A.W.N. Pugin. This style is marked by cathedral like arches and, trefoils and quatrefoils. If you like Gothic Revival please look at some of my other listings...
